Winter Engagement Session in the Black Hills

Mollie & Alex | Engagement Photos in the Black Hills | December 26, 2021

It is always really special when one of your best friends get engaged. Mollie and I have been friends for about as long as I can remember. We grew up together and have stayed close since high school. She’s one of the funniest and smartest people I know. A few years back, Mollie moved to Arizona and she soon met a guy named Alex. About a year later, I got to meet Alex on a trip down to AZ. It was very clear that Alex was a great guy and a good match for Mollie. Fast forward to Christmas of 2021 when Alex finally proposed. Mollie sent me a photo of her ring right away and asked if I could do an engagement session the next day. Mind you - texting a client on Christmas Day to set up an engagement session the following day isn’t something I typically condone, but Mollie once showed up to my parents’ house on Thanksgiving Day just to hang out, so this is something I’ve come to expect 😉 I’m kidding of course (not about the Thanksgiving thing, that’s real), but I was over the moon when I received that text because it genuinely means THE WORLD to me when my friends ask me to take their photos. This morning was so special to me.

We chose a beautiful, scenic location outside of Lead-Deadwood and took a little hike, even in the super chilly weather! These two were amazing and such troopers despite the cold (Alex grew up in California, so bonus points for him). We got to enjoy gorgeous views, snowy trails, and were lucky enough to have a bit of sunlight peak through at the end of our shoot. I loved getting to spend the morning with them and am incredibly excited for their wedding next year. Cheers to these two cuties!
