Once you decide we’re the right fit, we’ll move forward with booking. I’ll send over a contract, a retainer invoice, and my wedding guide to ease your mind as you continue planning your day.

From there, we’ll start planning your engagement session, and I’ll be available for any questions or ideas that come up along the way. I want you to feel as prepared and confident as you can be!

Planning Your Sioux Falls Engagement Photography Session

Engagement sessions aren’t just about capturing beautiful photos (though you’ll definitely get those!)—they’re also a chance to shake off any camera nerves and get comfortable in front of the camera before your wedding day. The most important part? Come with a positive attitude!

During your engagement session, I’ll guide you through natural posing prompts that feel like you, capturing the genuine moments of laughter, connection, and joy. Whether we’re exploring a favorite downtown spot, strolling through your favorite park, or visiting a location with special meaning to you, your engagement session should feel like a fun, relaxed date—just with me and my camera as your super-fun third wheel!

Here’s the specifics about your engagement session: Typically, these sessions are two hours long and include 2-3 different locations, depending on proximity. I always tell my clients they should plan two outfits, including one casual outfit and one more formal/dressy option. You are welcome to bring a few additional outfit options if you’re unsure what’ll photograph well on camera, and I’m happy to weigh in!

Creating a Seamless Wedding Day Timeline

A well-planned timeline is the key to a relaxed, enjoyable wedding day that allows you as a couple to soak up every moment without feeling rushed. I work closely with every couple I serve to create a photography timeline that’s unique to you and keeps things running smoothly throughout the day.

One key decision you’ll need to make is whether or not you’d like a private first look as a couple before your wedding ceremony. This helps to determine a lot about the timeline of the day and when other photography must-dos, like wedding party photos, must-have family groupings, couple portraits, detail shots, and more, can take place. We’ll talk through all of your options together!

One other important aspect of my wedding photography experience takes place at golden hour or sunset! Golden hour typically begins about an hour before sunset and is the perfect lighting to create dreamy, romantic photos. While the timing of golden hour is very specific to the time of year and the season your wedding will take place, I always make an effort to work these stunning portraits into your wedding day timeline!

All of this preparation means that when your wedding day comes, you can be fully present, knowing that every meaningful detail is captured beautifully and without stress.

On your wedding day, my goal is to capture everything—the big, emotional moments and the small, in-between ones that make your day uniquely yours! 

I’ll guide you through flattering, effortless poses that feel natural while also stepping back to document the real, unfiltered moments—the laughter and excitement you share with your bridal party, the looks on your faces when you see each other for the first time, and the little tears your parents wipe away during the first dance. When you look back on your wedding photos, I want you to see you—fully present, deeply in love, and having the time of your life!

Wedding days can bring about unexpected challenges, like weather-related hiccups, family drama, or timeline issues, like a part of the day taking longer than expected. My advice to you is to put your trust into your hired vendors. We want to make sure you enjoy the day, no matter what bumps in the road may occur.
