Simple Rustic Summer Wedding in Small Town, South Dakota

McKenzee & Hadley | South Dakota Wedding | Highmore,SD | August 8th, 2020

When I first met Kenzee, and for about the first three years of knowing her, she was pretty timid, quiet, and she very much kept to herself. There were little glimpses of her spunkiness and hilariousness throughout the years… but it wasn’t until about her fourth year at Augie where she really stepped into herself, and I think a big reason is because her love, Hadley, was finally living in the same town. Being apart of the Augie basketball team, most of us got to know each other’s significant others pretty well. We always knew about Hadley and that he and Kenzee were high school sweethearts, but we hadn’t really gotten to know him until he actually lived in Sioux Falls. I think he pretty quickly became a part of the gang and it was pretty special to watch the two of them open up together and be their true selves. I think the story of them finally being together is such a testament of how they truly bring out the best and most of each other. I have really loved watching Kenzee become an incredibly confident, hilarious, and outgoing human being alongside Hadley and I’ve very much loved getting to know him too. When I heard the news that these two were finally engaged, I remembering tearing up. I was so dang happy for this sweet couple and knew how deserving they both were of each other. When Kenzee asked me to take her wedding photos, I was completely shocked. I wasn’t expecting it at all and I felt incredibly honored that she had thought of me. Of course I said yes and we began planning their engagement shoot and wedding. I have to say, Kenzee & Hadley are the easiest people I have ever gotten to photograph. I can’t really explain it other than the two of them are absolutely freaking giddy around each other and it seriously makes me emotional thinking about it while looking through their photos. They are so joyful and loving and have been an absolute dream to work for. Their wedding was in their hometown of Highmore, SD and it was a beautiful celebration of the two of them, the life they’ve already built, and the journey they have just begun. I admire my friend Kenzee for so many reasons, and I admire Kenzee & Hadley as a couple as well. They are the embodiment of a perfect love story and I couldn’t be more excited to watch as their lives unfold together. To Kenz & Hads, CHEERS friends! You deserve a lifetime of happiness <3
