Carly & Dylan’s Classic and Cozy October Wedding in Sioux Falls

Carly and Dylan should win an award for how beautifully and flawlessly they pulled off wedding planning in three months. These two got engaged in July and planned their wedding for October… and it was absolutely perfect! 

When I first met with Carly & Dylan, they explained to me that they were just ready to be married. They didn’t want to spend a whole year planning as their main priority was really just being together with their closest friends and family celebrating their love and I love that so much.

My entire experience working with these two has been such a breeze. Carly is incredibly organized and these two couldn’t be an easier couple to photograph. We took their engagement photos back in August and getting to know them has been really fun. One thing I heard Carly say several times throughout this process was “when you know you know.” And I think that’s such a beautiful summary on their story so far.

Carly and Dylan’s wedding day was on October 21st and in South Dakota, that can be a bit risky. Late October can certainly have beautiful fall weather, but it can also be cold, windy, and sometimes even snowy! Luckily, their wedding day was absolutely gorgeous. It was a perfect 70-degree day with plenty of sunshine and some lingering fall colors. If I could wave a magic wand over all of the weddings I photograph, this is the type of weather I would choose every time!

Their wedding and reception were at one of my favorite Sioux Falls venues, Emerald Pines Barn, which always allows for such beautiful, clean images (I’m obsessed with white walls and natural lighting, ya know?). After the first look, we ventured over to Legacy Park for couples portraits and wedding party portraits. The park was the perfect location and the fall colors really came through in their images.

Carly and Dylan decided on a 5:00 ceremony as their wedding was on a Friday. And let me tell you, their outdoor ceremony at this time of day in October was STUNNING. The golden lighting was perfect and these are truly some of my favorite ceremony photos I’ve ever taken. 

We finished out the evening with golden hour photos, dinner, dancing, and a super fun sparkler exit. I left this wedding with such a full heart! I had a blast celebrating Carly and Dylan’s marriage and I’m so excited to share these images.
