What to Know About Wedding Planning in 2022

Are you planning a wedding in 2022? This year and likely years to come, a wedding boom is expected to happen and we’re already seeing it. Residual effects of 2020 cancellations and high demand for vendors and services has landed us to where we are now. Wedding planning is changing and with that comes various challenges and uncertainties. Luckily, there are a few things you can do to navigate the process and to make sure your wedding happens the way you want it to.

1. Know What You Want

First, it’s important to know what you want. After you've had time to process the excitement of your engagement, you’ll begin wedding planning. I would suggest writing down your entire vision, dream wedding photographers, dream venues, decor ideas, etc. Write your must-haves and also jot down a few things that you’re more willing to compromise on. Reflecting on exactly what you want for your wedding will make your decision processes more concise with will save you some headaches that might come along when planning for your wedding this year.

2. Book Key Vendors First

After you’ve written down what you want, you’ll likely know what vendors you want to book first. Reach out to them right away and book them. This will solidify your date and you’ll be able to make other decisions based on what you’ve already booked. And here’s a bonus tip: be sure to read through contracts carefully before you sign!

3. Be prepared to be flexible

The harsh reality of planning a wedding this year is that you need to anticipate the unexpected. Whether it’s bad weather, high covid numbers, or various restrictions, it is good to have a backup plan. A few suggestions I have in regard to this is to have a backup ceremony location, create a tiered guest list, make a Facebook group to keep guests updated, and be transparent with everyone about your backup plans. Also make sure your vendors are on board if you need to make changes - that’s why reading through contracts is so important!

a few final thoughts

While there could be some uncertainties about planning your wedding, it’s still important to let it be a fun and exciting process. Keep a positive attitude, control the variables that you can, and enjoy this super special time. And of course, reach out to your vendors with questions, suggestions, insight or any help you may need. That is why we are here! Happy wedding planning!
